“Secrets of the Woman in the Suit” is a book written to encourage and ensure any woman or man that by maintaining hope in his or her dreams they can soar above any obstacle(s) they may be facing and letting them know “If you believe it, you can achieve it. The book conveys personal and business tragedies turned into personal and business triumphs. Secrets talks of how the women never lost faith and how they persevered and kept looking for the good in every turn they made. One writer, Marjorie Young shares how she took a failing family business and turned it into one of the most successful PR businesses in the City of Savannah, GA.

It was exciting to read the collection of essays about the contributions of the women in Secrets of the Woman in the Suit. These are women who share how they overcame tremendous odds to become successful. What made it more exciting was the fact that I know most of the women in the book. It is very nice to read a book about local “sheroes.” It is important that the lives of people who make significant contributions to local history be documented and made available, especially to our young people. All of us can be encouraged and take pride in what these women overcome. People, young and old, can benefit from knowing that ordinary people can and do rise above their humble beginnings to achieve and make important contributions to their communities.

It is very gratifying to know how after Sarahlyn Argrow struggled as a single mother to provide for her family, she organized A Working Woman In Need (AWWIN) to help other women overcome similar challenges. It was a special honor to be asked by Ms. Argrow to be the speaker at the first AWWIN fund raiser eleven years ago. The growth and strength of AWWIN is a testament to the determination of Ms. Argrow to leave a legacy of having done great things for others. This book is another piece of that legacy.

“What do dead mice, no-name angels and HARD labor have in common? As I reviewed "Secrets of the Woman in the Suit", I discovered that these "secrets" have been motivation for working women in need. I was inspired by each woman's unique story of inner strength, refinement and dreams fulfilled!”
- Cathy P. Hill Georgia Power Company Vice President Coastal Region

The “Secrets of the Woman in the Suit” is a powerful message for anyone who reads and shares the journeys of the incredible women who are strong in heart and spirit. They truly are modern day disciples.

I have been privileged to know several of these women personally and each of them has given me a gift of life. The first day I met Barbara Treadwell, she shared a part of her life that from that day forward has lifted me up and given me courage to end a pattern that was unhealthy for me. She had no idea at the time how her willingness to share resonated in my heart.

Many would agree, “It is more difficult to receive than to give.” The ability of these women to know they needed to receive and not let pride and circumstances trip them on their personal journey to the life that was theirs to live, was uplifting.

Although each woman’s background was different, their stories were similar. They each saw the opportunity to receive the help graciously and then give back. That pattern of giving back continues in this book. It is a must read for all men and women who can turn inspiration into action. After reading “Secrets of the Woman in the Suit” you will feel touched by an angel.
